Kemijon (Onomarchus leuconotus)

Kemijon (Onomarchus leuconotus) is a species of katydid (family Tettigoniidae). It is an arboreal, solitary insect characterized by its green wings, long antennae, black eyes, and six legs, each composed of two segments. Its body structure is highly adapted for life among leafy vegetation.

O. leuconotus is concealed by wings that closely resemble leaves; they are green and somewhat oblong, with the base positioned near the head and a tapered tip that points slightly upward. The upper edge curves upward before arching back down to meet at the tip.



The surface of the wings features three horizontal lines and several smaller vertical lines, along with a white spot near the front and a number of small black dots scattered along these lines. The spaces between the lines are slightly lighter in color.

This species is extremely difficult to distinguish from its leafy surroundings when perched on a plant. The insect moves very slowly and tends to remain motionless, even when touched. Its green, serrated legs allow it to maintain a firm grip on its perch.
