Flexuose climbing fern (Lygodium flexuosum)

Flexuose climbing fern (Lygodium flexuosum) is a species of plant in the Lygodiaceae, a vine-like fern that produces stems that grow vines and climb the surrounding vegetation, growing in forests, agricultural land and abandoned lands.

L. flexuosum has a cylindrical stem, slender and strong like a rope, green and grows elongated to climb the surrounding vegetation. The leaves have short stalks and rachises, are elongated and green.

Leaves have small segments on each side at the base. a bone in the center with several sideways veins. The sporangia are packed lined up along the edge, in the form of cylindrical and elongated folds. The sterile leaves have spear-shaped internodes.

Plants reproduce by means of spores and propagate asexually through underground rhizomes. It grows in humid and swampy habitats, especially in disturbed areas, agricultural land and abandoned lands.

A deep-sea isopod Bathyopsurus nybelini adapted to feed submerged Sargassum algae
