Sewu osbeckia (Osbeckia sewu)

Sewu osbeckia (Osbeckia sewu) is a species of plant in Melastomataceae, low and slender growing, elongated leaves with three veins, fan flower with four ears, growing on the slopes of limestone hills that form tenuous colonies.

O. sewu has an upright stem up to 30 cm, square and cylindrical, slender and long, green and red, trident branches and white hair. The leaves sit on the stem, are elongated, base and pointed, three linear veins, green and white hair.

The flowers are at the end of the stem and are light purple and yellow in color. Four ears, light purple, three rounded corners, linear lines and dark purple. The pistil is bright yellow in color with a long, bright purple stalk and is transparent.

The capsules are cup-shaped, hull, green with brown borders. The spines grow at a base, consisting of several circular roots and are white in color.

Sewu osbeckia grows on the slopes of limestone hills, rocky and dry landscapes, lots of sunshine, forming tenuous colonies to fill the marginal land surface.
