A. leptopus has heart-shaped leaves, 5-10 cm long, green, wavy surface, pointed tip, a vein in the middle with many small veins that are curved and intertwined.
Compound flowers are arranged in panicles and grow from the leaf axils. The crown consists of 5 sheets, pink or white, each 7 mm long.
The outer three crowns are ovoid or heart-like, the other two having a more pointed shape. The blooming crown will enlarge and cover the fruit. The fruit is like a membrane with a greenish tint.
