Dear dewflower (Murdannia japonica) is a plant species in the Commelinaceae, perennial herb, fibrous roots, short main stem, fertile stem emerges from the base of the main stem, erect, hairy, up to 80 cm tall, grows in damp forests, forest borders, shrubs, edges road with an elevation of 200-2000 meters.
M. japonica has several leaves growing on the main, basal and rosulate stems. The leaves are narrow oval in shape, 8-20 cm long, 2-5 cm wide, with pointed tips and green color.
Inflorescences in terminal panicles with stalks up to 20 cm long, straight, branched, green and dark red. The elliptical sepals are narrow and 0.5-6 mm long. Flowers are purple or blue or white and ovate.
Capsule ellipsoid, trigonous, 5x4 mm, obtuse at both ends. Seeds with 2-4 per valve, uniseriate, brown-gray and tetragonal. Flowers bloom in May-July or August-September.
