Golden gem (Libellago lineata)

Golden gem (Libellago lineata) is an animal species in Chlorocyphidae, a medium sized dragonfly, has a black color with bright plots of red or yellow or blue, transparent wings, a pair of large eyes, lives around flowing water and spends time perched on rocks.

L. lineata has a head that is dominated by a pair of large and spherical black eyes. The back is square with a linear line in the middle. The sides are black with bright plots of red or yellow or blue.

The belly is cylindrical, jointed, has a black color with bright plots of red or yellow or blue and an enlarged tail tip. The legs are stick-shaped, have joints, are black and have rows of spines to the soles.

The golden gem lives around running water in forests, farmlands and roadsides. Lots of time spent perching on rock. This species has a variety of colors and several subspecies including Libellago lineata lineata, Libellago lineata andamanensis and Libellago lineata indica.
