Amis mata (Ficus montana)

Amis mata (Ficus montana) is a species of plant in Moraceae, small tree or shrub, erect, not climbing, woody stem, straight, cylindrical, branched, grows on the forest floor, shaded places, plantations and agricultural lands.

F. montana has leaves with short stalks, cylindrical in shape and green. Strands oblong, pointed tip, margins may be serrated or may be flat, green, a main vein in the middle with many pinnate minor veins and protruding on the underside.

The berries grow in the axillary above the leaves in single or multiple numbers and have short stalks, round in shape, rough surface, green or yellow when young and become bright red when ripe.

NEWS - Incredible footage shows a marine species, Bathyopsurus nybelini , feeding on something that sinks from the ocean’s surface. Researchers using the submersible Alvin found the isopod swimming 3.7 miles down using its paddle-like legs to catch an unexpected food source: Sargassum.
