NEWS - Researchers report Martin Kenne grasshopper ( Pteropera kennei sp. nov.), Danilo Matzke grasshopper ( Pteropera matzkei sp. nov.) and Alain Didier Missoup grasshopper ( Pteropera missoupi sp. nov.) which increases the number of Pteropera species in Cameroon from 8 to 12 and the total to 30 species in Central Africa. Pteropera Karsch 1891 is a genus of Afrotropical micropteran grasshoppers in the Catantopinae. These flightless grasshoppers are morphologically similar to Serpusia Karsch. Species of this genus are common in forests, forest edges and agrosystems, most of which have a restricted distribution range. The genus was originally described for Pteropera verrucigena Karsch and remained monotypic until the description of P. pictipes by Bolívar in 1908. NEWS - Researchers introduced Phasmadigonis Ramos-González & Parra gen. nov. for P. alba (Butler, 1882) comb. nov. and Gugnelve Ramos-González & Parra gen. nov. for G. butleri Ramos-González & Parra sp. nov. Digonis Butler 1882 was reviewed, D. cuprea Butler 1882 was synonymized with D. cervinaria (Blanchard, 1852), all varieties of D. punctifera Butler 1882 and D. cuprea were synonymized with their respective species. Phasmadigonis was established based on the type species Digonis alba Butler, 1882. This genus has similarities with Digonodes Warren 1895, Digonis Butler 1882, and Gonogala Butler 1882 because of the mucronate wing shape. NEWS - Researchers report bizarre scale insect ( Barbenigma biza Powell & Miller, sp. nov.) and bush scale insect ( Barbenigma boscus Powell & Miller, sp. nov.), Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Ortheziidae, two species of bizarre scale insects in a new genus from Florida and Nebraska, United States. Ortheziidae (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha) comprise 216 species in 24 genera; several of which are extinct and known only from specimens in amber. Barbenigma Powell & Miller, gen. nov., expands the concept of the Ortheziidae. NEWS - Two new species were described: tenuis leaf-beetle ( Euliroetis tenuis sp. nov.) and brick red leaf-beetle ( Euliroetis testacea sp. nov.), five species were redescribed and a new synonym was proposed: Euliroetis nigrinota Gressitt et kimoto, 1963 = Euliroetis simulonigrinota Yang 1992 syn. nov. based on examination of type specimens and morphology of male and female genitalia. Euliroetis was established by ogloblin (1936) for Aenidea ornata Baly 1874. NEWS - Island golden saxifrage ( Chrysosplenium insularis sp. nov.) in the Saxifragaceae from the southern islands of the Republic of Korea is morphologically similar to Chrysosplenium japonicum (Maxim.), differing in that it has fairly persistent bulbils, green to yellowish-green sepals, 4 stamens and cylindrical papillose seeds. Chrysosplenium L. is a perennial herbaceous member of the Saxifragaceae comprising over 70 species, mostly distributed in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere and shaded and moist habitats in mountains. NEWS - Fanjingshan water penny beetle ( Mataeopsephus fanjingshanus sp. nov.) and Ming-zhi zhao water penny beetle ( Mataeopsephus zhaomingzhiis sp. nov.) collected using light traps from Guizhou Province, China. Psephenidae also known as water beetles include 300 species grouped into 5 subfamilies. Psephenid beetles are known in all zoogeographic regions and have high biodiversity in the Oriental Region. Larvae are fully aquatic, many of which have very flattened bodies to adapt to living in fast-flowing, clean water by feeding on algae covering rock surfaces.
